      Anunoby intends to ink a five-year, $212.5 million contract extension with the Knicks, which includes a player option and trade kicker, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

      Advice: Anunoby's extension comes in the wake of the Knicks trading for Mikal Bridges, giving the team an excellent wing tandem heading into 2024-25. Anunoby was injured for much of his Knicks tenure last season, but he averaged 14.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks across 36.2 minutes during his 31 regular-season and playoff games, minus his five-minute final appearance in Game 7 of the second round against Indiana.       OG Anunoby intends to re-sign with the Knicks on a five-year, $212.5 million contract, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

      Advice: Everything seems to be coming together for the Knicks. Less than 24 hours after trading for Mikal Bridges, they are able to bring Anunoby back on a long-term deal, giving them one of the most formidable perimeter defenses in the league. Assuming both Bridges and OG start alongside Brunson and Randle, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo will likely come off the bench. New York also may struggle to bring back Isaiah Hartenstein now that they have committed so much money to Anunoby.       According to Fred Katz of The Athletic, OG Anunoby has decided to decline his player option and will be an unrestricted free agent.

      Advice: The report is unsurprising, as Anunoby was due to make approximately $19.9 million in 2024-25. Acquired by the Knicks from the Raptors in late December, the 2017 first-round pick is expected to earn well over $30 million annually, whether with the Knicks or another team. Anunoby will be one of the best available players on the market when free agency opens on June 30, and he has top-50 fantasy potential regardless of where he lands.       Anunoby (hamstring) declined his $19.9 million player option for 2024-25 on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: It was inevitable that Anunoby would decline his player option, as he has a reported market value of around $35 million-plus per year going into free agency, which starts June 30. The 26-year-old has proven his worth as a solid wing defender and three-point shooter, but his injury history is another factor teams will consider before making him an offer. Anunoby was traded from the Raptors to the Knicks on Dec. 30, and he averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks across 34.9 minutes in 23 regular-season appearances for New York.       Advice: Irving struggled to get going in the Game 5 loss to the Celtics after a strong performance in Game 4, when he put up 21 points, six assists and four rebounds on 55.6 percent shooting from the field. The eight-time All-Star averaged 19.8 points, 5.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 0.6 steals in five NBA Finals games while shooting 41.4 percent from the field. Irving has now been to four NBA Finals with a 1-3 record, and he will attempt to help lead Dallas back to the championship round next year with Luka Doncic by his side.       Kyrie Irving finished Monday’s 106-88 loss to the Celtics with 15 points (5-of-16 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, nine assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers in 41 minutes.

      Advice: As in Games 1 and 2 of the NBA Finals, Irving struggled in Game 5. The nine assists weren’t enough to counter another poor shooting night, which is bound to leave a bitter taste in the Mavericks guard’s mouth heading into the offseason. Boasting a Yahoo ADP of 14.1, Irving exceeded that number in 8- and 9-cat formats. The veteran guard was slightly better in 9-cat, ranking within the top 10 according to Basketball Monster. The lone negative for Irving managers was the availability, as he was limited to 58 regular season games. While he certainly has top-10 fantasy potential, availability keeps him outside that threshold in drafts.
