  • Obi Toppin chips in 12/6/4 line off bench
    Obi Toppin provided a boost off the bench with 12 points (3-of-7 FGs), six rebounds, four assists and two triples against Milwaukee on Tuesday.

    Advice: Toppin was once again a solid scoring option off the bench as he scored in double figures for the third straight game. However, his most notable moment from this game was getting into a scuffle with Patrick Beverley that resulted in a technical foul for Toppin. The Bucks had started the second quarter on a 12-2 run, and they were in complete control after the technical. Toppin will look to provide some buckets off the bench once again in Game 6 on Thursday.   • Darius Garland scores 17 points in first quarter
    Darius Garland lit up the Magic with 23 points (9-of-16 FGs), five rebounds, five assists and three triples on Tuesday.

    Advice: Garland got off to a scorching hot start in this game and scored 17 points in the first quarter to help the Cavs jump out to a 33-23 lead. Unfortunately, he didn’t do much scoring after that. This has been a poor series for Garland, so it was encouraging to see him get off to a strong start, and he ended up having his highest-scoring game of the series.   • Notches double-double in series finale
    Gilgeous-Alexander totaled 24 points (8-21 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-13 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks over 40 minutes during Monday's 97-89 win over the Pelicans in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

    Advice: Gilgeous-Alexander struggled with his shooting touch in this one, but he crashed the boards for a series-high 10 rebounds, marking his first double-double of the 2024 postseason. The Kentucky product appeared to tweak his ankle during Monday's matchup, but he was able to work through the issue on the Thunder bench and eventually returned to lead his team to a series-clinching victory. "Just tweaked it," said head coach Mark Daigneault on Gilgeous-Alexander's ankle injury. "Obviously good enough to go back into the game. He'll need treatment.     Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 24 points (8-of-21 FGs, 7-of-13 FTs), 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one triple against New Orleans in Game 4 on Monday.

    Advice: SGA turned his ankle early in this game, but he didn’t have to sit out long. He ended up playing 40 minutes to help the Thunder complete the sweep and advance to the second round, where they’ll await the winner of the Clippers-Mavericks series. SGA had an uncharacteristically inefficient shooting night from both the floor and the free throw line in this game, but he shouldn’t have many games like this moving forward. The MVP finalist led OKC to their first playoff series win since 2016, and they’ll be looking to keep up their winning ways in round two. Rotoworld Monday, 8:23 pm
     
  • Ineffective in Game 4 loss
    Beal posted nine points (4-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and one block over 31 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 122-116 loss to Minnesota in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

    Advice: This was Beal's worst game of the playoffs, and it resulted in the Suns getting swept by the Timberwolves in the first round. For the fifth straight campaign, Beal was unable to eclipse 60 games and struggled with injuries. He ended up making 53 appearances in his first season with the Suns, posting averages of 18.2 points, 5.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.9 three-pointers. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:12 am

    Garland accumulated 14 points (5-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, six assists and one block over 32 minutes during Saturday's 112-89 loss to the Magic in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

    Advice: Garland has yet to score more than 15 points through four postseason games and has shot only 41.9 percent from the field during that stretch. Following back-to-back losses in Orlando to even the series, Cleveland needs more offensive production out of its point guard if the team is going to advance to the next round.     Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 24 points (8-of-20 FGs), five rebounds, eight assists, four steals, one block and one triple in a 106-85 win over New Orleans in Game 3 on Saturday.

    Advice: SGA wasn’t as efficient in this game in comparison to his performances in Games 1 and 2, but he was still able to lead the team in scoring and help them take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. This was a well-rounded performance for the team, and they’ll have a chance to close out the series in Game 4 on Monday. SGA, who is a finalist for the league’s MVP award, has had a strong start to the postseason, and they’ll need him to keep it up if they want to make any real noise in the playoffs this year.     Beal finished Friday's 126-109 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs with 28 points (10-19 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and four assists in 43 minutes.

    Advice: Beal led the Suns in scoring Friday, but as has been the case throughout the series, Phoenix simply hasn't been able to hang with the Timberwolves throughout an entire game, which explains the 0-3 series deficit the Suns are currently in. This was the first team Beal surpassed the 15-point mark in the series, and the veteran guard will need to keep the momentum going for Game 4 on Sunday if the Suns want to avoid getting swept in the first round.     Obi Toppin provided a boost off the bench with 15 points (6-of-11 FGs), six rebounds and two triples against the Bucks on Friday.

    Advice: Toppin scored 13 points total in Games 1 and 2 of this series, but he exceeded that number in this game. He only played 17 minutes, and it’s unlikely that he plays a larger role moving forward. However, he stepped up and provided them with a nice boost in this one. Toppin was the team’s starting power forward to open the year, but he has still found a way to be effective as a reserve recently.
