    Advice: Joel Embiid clearly wasn't 100 percent, so Maxey stepped up in a big way for the 76ers. He used his quickness to get whatever look he wanted on the court, and he hit a three-pointer near halfcourt to send this game to overtime.   • Tyrese Maxey keeps 76ers alive with 46-point night
    Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 46 points (17-of-30 FGs), five rebounds, nine assists and seven 3-pointers in a 112-106 overtime win over the Knicks in Game 5 on Tuesday.

    Advice: With Joel Embiid struggling, Maxey stepped up to lead the 76ers in this game. Even when it seemed like the game was over, Maxey kept them alive. They trailed by six points with 30 seconds left when Maxey converted a four-point play. Then he knocked down a deep three after Josh Hart split free throws to tie the game and force overtime. Maxey added five more points in the overtime period to extend the series and force a Game 6 in Philadelphia. This was the closest thing we’ve seen to Reggie Miller’s eight points in nine seconds, and the 76ers now have some life and momentum in this series. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:11 pm
     
  • Kawhi Leonard (knee) ruled out for Game 5 vs. Mavs
    Kawhi Leonard (right knee inflammation) will remain sidelined for Game 5 against Dallas on Wednesday.

    Advice: Unsurprisingly, Leonard has been ruled out for Game 5, though the situation isn’t as bleak as many expected. The Clippers have won the two games that he hasn’t played in, and they were able to reclaim home court advantage in Game 4.   • Confirmed out for Game 5
    Coach Tyronn Lue said Tuesday that Leonard (knee) will not play in Game 5 versus the Mavericks on Wednesday, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.

    Advice: Lue made this announcement shortly after saying Leonard wouldn't be doing anything at all during Tuesday's practice. Leonard clearly didn't have much mobility in Games 2 and 3, and it's unclear when he'll be able to return.     Coach Tyronn Lue said Leonard (knee) will not do anything at practice Tuesday, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.

    Advice: After sitting out Game 1 due to inflammation in his right knee, Leonard played in Games 2 and 3, but he looked like a shell of himself with limited mobility. Leonard was held out of Game 4 on Sunday, and it would be a big surprise if he could play Wednesday based on how the forward is trending.   • Drops 49 points in defeat
    Booker accumulated 49 points (13-21 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 20-21 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals in 45 minutes during Sunday's 122-116 loss to Minnesota in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

    Advice: Minnesota swept the Suns on Sunday, but Booker did everything he could to keep Phoenix in contention during a back-and-forth matchup, logging his fourth-highest scoring total of the season while contributing on both ends of the court. Booker remained dominant during his age-27 season, averaging 27.1 points, 6.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 36.0 minutes per game.   • Devin Booker’s 49 not enough to keep season alive
    Devin Booker amassed a game-high 49 points in Sunday’s loss to the Timberwolves, adding five rebounds, six assists, two steals, a blocked shot and three triples across 45 minutes.

    Advice: Booker was an efficient 13-of-21 from the floor and converted a ridiculous 20 of his 21 free throw attempts. Booker became just the 13th player in NBA history to hit at least 20 free throws in a playoff game, and Sunday’s performance was the first of its kind since Dirk Nowitzki hit 24 from the charity stripe back in 2011. Booker added an eighth 40-point playoff game to his resume, extending his own franchise record, but the scoring binge wasn’t enough to stave off elimination as most of the team struggled. Booker and Kevin Durant combined for 82 of Phoenix’s 116 points, and no other player had more than nine.     Advice: Maxey provided Philadelphia with a well-rounded outing in the Game 4 defeat, connecting on a team-high-tying trio of threes while ending as one of two players with 20 or more points. Maxey has been one of the 76ers' best offensive producers in the first-round series, surpassing the 20-point mark in all four outings.     Advice: Maxey and the 76ers are now on the brink of elimination, and his production decreased in Philadelphia’s two home games. After shooting 54% from the field in Games 1 and 2 (68 points), Maxey shot 17-of-42 and scored 48 at home. That isn’t terrible, but the decrease becomes magnified when the “supporting cast” continues to offer limited value. Kyle Lowry (7/5/7 with one 3-pointer) shot 1-of-6 from the field, and Tobias Harris (10 points, eight rebounds) was 4-of-10. Game 5 is on Tuesday in New York, with Philadelphia facing a 3-1 deficit.
