    • Woj: Blazers pick up Dalano Banton’s team option
      According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Trail Blazers have picked up Dalano Banton’s team option for next season.

      Advice: Acquired from the Celtics at the February trade deadline (Boston received a trade exception), Banton’s play was one of the few positives for the Trail Blazers last season. In his 30 games with Portland, the 2021 second-round pick averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 1.9 3-pointers in 29.2 minutes. It should be noted that, by that point in the season, Portland had been decimated by injuries, freeing up additional minutes for Banton.       Advice: Banton will return to Portland after being acquired by the team via trade from the Celtics on Feb. 8. The 24-year-old balled out in his time with the Blazers, during which he averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 0.9 steals over 30 regular-season games.       The Lakers have tendered a qualifying offer to Christie on Saturday, and he will become a restricted free agent, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

      Advice: Christie is expected to be one of the more sought after young guards in free agency this offseason, and he could be stolen away from the Lakers if the price is right. However, the past two years the 22-year-old was much less of a factor for the team, and he averaged 5.2 points, 1.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.3 steals across 10.8 minutes in 32 regular-season games.       According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers will not tender Brandon Boston Jr. a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.

      Advice: Boston, the 51st overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, played a limited role during his three seasons with the Clippers. His minutes per game average decreased each season, with the athletic wing playing 10.8 minutes in 32 appearances last season.       The Magic declined to extend Harris a $1.87 million qualifying offer Friday, making him an unrestricted free agent, Chris Haynes of Turner Sports reports.

      Advice: Harris spent the past two seasons in Orlando after striking a two-year, two-way deal with the Magic in the summer of 2022. He appeared in 34 games for the Magic in 2022-23, but with the club becoming more competitive in 2023-24 and reaching the playoffs, Harris was often inactive and saw action in just two contests at the NBA level. Harris was solid at G League level with the Osceola Magic in 2023-24 -- he averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.9 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 28.8 minutes per game while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three-point range over 27 appearances -- but since he already turned 27 years old earlier this month, it's unlikely that another organization will view him as a development piece worthy of a two-way spot during the upcoming season.       Advice: Quinones had spent the better part of the last two seasons as a two-way player for the Warriors, but Golden State upgraded him to a one-year, standard NBA contract in February. While Quinones was eligible to compete in the postseason as a result of the adjustment to his contract, it put him in line for a bump in pay in 2024-25, and the Warriors apparently weren't willing to keep him around on a $2.29 million salary. Quinones averaged only 4.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.9 three-pointers in 10.6 minutes per game while shooting just 39.7 percent from the field over his 37 appearances for Golden State in 2023-24, but he was a top-notch performer at the G League level the past two seasons and demonstrated impressive positional versatility. Golden State could still look to bring him back on another two-way deal or on a non-guaranteed contract, but Quinones will first canvas the open market and see if he can find a better opportunity elsewhere. In 76 appearances for the Lakers, Russell averaged 18.0 points on 45.6 percent shooting from the field, 6.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 32.7 minutes. Though Russell once again projects to slot in as the Lakers' starting point guard under first-year head coach J.J.       D’Angelo Russell has decided to pick up his player option for the 2024-25 season.

      Advice: Despite being the subject of trade speculation last season, Russell has decided to remain with the Lakers for the final season of his current contract. And the 2023-24 season was a good one for him fantasy-wise, as the point guard provided 6th-round per-game value in 9-cat formats. The hope is that the partnership with new head coach JJ Redick will help Russell take his game to another level playing alongside LeBron James (who also has a player option) and Anthony Davis. “I love what JJ is about, and I really see myself thriving under his guidance to help win at a high level,” Russell told ESPN. While Russell provided middle-round fantasy value last season, look for him to go a little later in standard league drafts, as playing alongside LeBron and AD limits his fantasy ceiling.
